Intermediate Metal Conduit IMC Smartube has a thicker and heavier steel raceway than EMT. It provides improved protection in various environments and electrical wiring in more severe conditions. IMC is also galvanized for corrosion protection in various lengths and trade sizes.
IMC is best suited for outdoor and industrial applications where resistance to impact is required. Extensively used in commercial buildings, factories, and places where extra physical protection of electrical wiring is needed. Normally, IMC is deployed owing to the reliability that it provides in conditions worse than EMT.
