Construction chemicals are the chemical formulations between cement, concrete, and other building material to bind them together at the time or before the time of construction. Applications

Concrete admixtures are one of the most use construction chemicals. The admixtures have a major effect on the properties of concrete product or concrete itself in workability, strength, weight, permeability, shrinkage, durable and chemical resistance. Admixture improves the overall workability of concrete which results in cost saving too. The most often used admixtures are water reducers, water-reducing retarders, air-entraining admixtures, and accelerators. Most of the admixtures for concrete are usually used to overcome the difficulty in construction usage, such as temperature fluctuates, pumping requirements, early strength or soft requirement or low water-cement requirement. Air-entraining admixtures are added to the batch concrete to reduce the damage that causes by low temperature fluctuate of the environment. Water reducers are used to increase the strength of concrete by reducing the required water. Retarders are used mostly on hot climate or whether to counter rapid curing and setting of concrete which allowing more time to work on it. Accelerators are usually used for fast construction requirement that allows the concrete setting faster and gains in strength.
